Grandma's Apple Dumplings


Easy-to-make pre-made pastry croissants and brown sugar apples for special occasions are the stars of this two-in-one morning treat.


*Ingredients
° 2 Granny Smith apples, cut into cubes
° 150 ml (2/3 cup) brown sugar
° 1/2 cup (125 ml) granulated sugar
° 10 ml (2 teaspoons) vanilla
° 180 ml (12 tablespoons) unsalted butter, melted and cooled
° 15 ml (1 tablespoon) ground cinnamon
° 5 ml (1 teaspoon) ground ginger
° 5 eggs
° 250 ml (1 cup) milk
° 1/2 cup (125 ml) Bisquik original mix
° 6 small croissants, cut into small pieces

* steps :

Preheat the oven to 175°C (350°F). Spray a 33 x 23 cm (13 x 9 in) baking dish with cooking spray. Put aside.

In a 25 cm (10 inch) skillet, fry the apples in the sugar until soft and the sugar caramelized. Add vanilla and mix. Take off the fire.

While the apples are cooking, mix together the butter, cinnamon, and ginger in a small bowl.

In a large bowl, whisk eggs and milk. Add Bisquick mixture and butter mixture and beat with a paddle attachment. Add croissants. Let them soak while the apples are cooking.

When the apples are ready, add the apple mixture to the soaked croissants. Stir the mixture. Pour into a baking dish.

Bake for 45 minutes. Serve hot.
