Homemade Corn Dogs

I made this recipe many years ago, because I loved the corn dogs you buy at carnivals but couldn't find a recipe for it. Great served with mustard.

* Ingredients :

° 1 cup yellow cornmeal
° 1 cup all-purpose flour/plain flour
° 1/4 cup sugar
° 1 tablespoon baking powder
° 1/4 teaspoon salt
° 1 scrambled egg
° 1 1/2 cups buttermilk (regular milk works too)
° 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
° 1 tablespoon honey
° 1 (10 pcs) hot dog package
° 10 wooden sticks or skewers
° 2 liters vegetable oil for frying

* Directions :

1- In a medium or large bowl, add the oil.
2- Set the heat to medium heat and heat the oil to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
3- In a large bowl, add the cornstarch, flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. * Stir up together.
4 Then add the beaten eggs, milk, oil and honey.
5- Stir until smooth. (The mixture should be a little thicker than the pancake batter)
6- Remove the hot dog from the package.
7- Wipe them all dry with a paper towel (this will help the mixture stick to them better)
8- Insert one skewer or wooden stick into each sausage.
9- Pour the mixture into a tall glass.
10- Grab the hot dog by the skewer and dip it in the mixture, covering all the hot dogs.
11- Slowly remove the mixture from the mixture and let a little of the excess mixture drip into the cup.
12- Immediately place it in the hot oil while continuing to hold the stick.
13- Flip as necessary to brown all sides.
14- Cook for 2-3 minutes, or until they turn a dark golden brown.
15- Remove from hot oil and place on paper towels to drain grease.
16- Repeat with all hot dogs.

Enjoy !
