*How to make apple donut cake

For the filling: Prepare your filling by combining the apples, sugar, water, cinnamon and cornstarch in a small saucepan. Cook over low heat for 5 to 7 minutes, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens and the apples are a little soft. Let cool. In a small bowl, stir together brown sugar and cinnamon until well blended and set aside.
For cake: Preheat oven to 350°. Butter and flour a 9×13 baking dish. Put aside.
Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy, about 3 minutes. Adding applesauce and vanilla also mix to combined. Adding eggs, one at a time, beat well after every addition.
Sift the dry ingredients together. Add the dry ingredients to the three-part batter alternately with the two-part yogurt, starting and ending with the dry ingredients. Beat until just combined.
Pour half of batter to prepared pan. Carefully pour the cooled apple mixture over the dough and spread it as evenly as possible. Sprinkle 2/3 of the brown sugar and cinnamon mixture over the apples and cover with the rest of the batter. Sprinkle the rest of the brown sugar and cinnamon mixture on top.
Bake for 45 to 55 minutes, until a toothpick inserted in the center of the cake comes out clean.
For the frosting: While the cake is baking, prepare the frosting. In a bowl, mix the powdered sugar, vanilla and milk until the icing has the desired consistency. Remove from the oven and pour immediately but gently over the hot cake. Try to pour as evenly as possible. You may need to pick up the cake and tip it to spread the frosting evenly. I even poured out some of it that collected in the corners and poured it over the top. Let the cake stand for a few minutes for the icing to set.

Enjoy !
